what do i do.

what breeds are they? 19 weeks is a little premature, also, you would be able to tell by 19 weeks what a rooster is and what a hen is. Post a pic and people would be glad to sex your chickens!

The hens will get a very red comb and wattles (little skin things hanging down by the side of their face) also will squat and stamp their feet when you go near them when they are about to lay. In general 22 to 28 weeks is about the age a hen starts to lay.

Welcome to the club, most here are excited to educate the rookies in the chicken way everlasting. If i were a doctor, i would prescribe chickens to anyone with high blood pressure, stress, insomnia etc, chickens are so relaxing and absorbing, i am like a child everyday i get to go check the eggs. Just tonight i was out there sitting, drinking a beer just chilling with the ladies. I watched them jump in vain trying to reach my cherry tomatoes, its hillarious!

Those lil pullet eggs are just so cute it's hard to eat them, but we do.
I guess my girls are pretty precocious then, my Orpington hens started laying at 17-18 weeks and 3 of my pullets are laying, starting at 16-17 weeks.

First take a picture of them in an egg carton next to a regular sized egg so you can remember how really small they were.... you can do this while your skillet is warming!

How true is that. People now a days don't really understand the spiritual benefits of raising chickens. But raising my girls, although flighty (ha ha puns) at first, so far is the most relaxing way to spend a dull afternoon. I just can't wait until they are healthy and fit enough to lay productive, delicious eggs.

my andalusian started laying at 19 weeks and my campine at about 21 weeks of course I was away when she started laying so don't have the exact date for her my brahma is still holding onto hers. she'll be 26 weeks this week.

i got 6 itty bitty eggs from my "new to laying" jersey giant pullets. i put them in the bator because im trying to replenish a friends flock that succomed to a band of dogs, but i candled today and the banty eggs are fertile, but not those itty bitty pullet eggs. I DID TAKE PICS though, cuz the cuteness factor was way high

I wouldn't try to hatch jersey giant tiny pullet eggs people say you can hatch a pullet egg but I would guess that the shell would be too small for them to fully develop being a large breed to begin with, I would be afraid of what came out of the shell.
