What do I feed my chicks?

I 've been feeding my chicks medicated feed and they seem to be doing great, but is there anything else I need to feed them?

Fresh water. That's it. That is all they need. I'm not much for feeding all kinds of stuff the first 6 weeks. I want them to eat their carefully prepared, scientifically produced diet and not throw it out of kilter with other things. After that? A chicken will a virtual array of things, as the saying goes, "Everything eats a chicken and a chicken eats everything".

But just because a chicken will eat most anything, doesn't mean that they should, if it makes up too large a portion of the diet, say more than 10 or 20 percent, it can throw off their performance. What they "find" for themselves? Fine. Grass, bugs, seeds, etc. But most of the diet issues comes from their over indulgent two-legged keepers.
