I need all your expertice to help me identify the sex of these two Barred Rocks. They are 5 weeks this wednesday. I am pretty sure the dark one is a girl because she had black down the front of her legs is very dark and her white spot was smaller and more formed. The lighter one also had the black on the front of the legs but not as dark and also had a slightly larger but formed white spot on the head during the chick stage. I am hoping it is a "she" because my bantam cochins hatched 8 eggs for a friend. I was only going to keep one because my flock is getting large but I had to help this one out of the egg and keep in an ICU for two days. The yoke sack reabsorded and she was on her way. Because this chicken has the potential to have problems i kept it so my young friend would not have to deal with it. It was part of his school project. Any who....I am holding on to hope. The white silkie (Duffee) decided these two were hers and has become their momma. Little does she know they will out size her soon. It is two cute.
