What do I need for bedding?

Okay well if i use paint what kind and how much? Same thing with vinyl. Do you think I could get some cheap at my habitat for humanity store? Oh, and I want the best for cleaning and for the chickens! Thanks, you guys are so helpful!

By preference I'd suggest using primer and then exterior semigloss latex.... but really, pretty much ANYthing is just fine, if it's free

and you prepare the surface properly (clean all dust and debris off with a tack cloth). Apply several thin coats, rather than fewer thick coats (thick coats cause the paint to peel prematurely)

Yes, your habitat for humanity store will have buncha cheap remnants for you to choose from. Color doesn't matter. Latex is good if you have to put the chickens in the coop the same day or if you have respiratory issues with fumes; but if you have time and ventilation, oil (alkyd) is fine too.

Yup, sure, as long as there's enough room for you to get in there to freely access all parts.

Personally I prefer painting before assembly when possible -- mainly just cuz it is easier, and then I can work on some other part of the thing while the paint is drying -- but certainly you can do it after completion too. Or put in vinyl, whatever.
