My four Buff Orpington pullets are now four weeks old. They're pretty well feathered out and off the heat lamp with the room temp at 76. They've been outside on nice days for a couple of hours at a time. They seemed occupied with each other and imaginary tasks up until the last couple of days. Now they peep, stare and hop at me expectantly when I check on the brooder for food and water changes. Are they begging for treats? Do they want outside? Are they BORED?

Yes. Those are all correct, and the fact that they want to take over the world and make us all grape-bringing slaves.

I have 14 babes and 4 are BO, they are about 5 weeks old. I keep them outside in a small run and at night them get moved into the large chicken run but are in a separate cage. They love it.

LOL! They can be noisy little buggers can't they! I actually got concerned when they quieted down for a few days, thought maybe something was wrong.

I think they must be getting used to us and that we bring them yummy treats..... and they are calling for more. When my 9 week olds were little I would go get them out and let them run around for 10 min or so then when I put them back in the cage, they all needed a nap.
