Brand new to the wonderful world of chickens. Can someone please tell me what breeds they are and if they are boys or girls. I got the 2 bigger one's in the 'breeders choice' bin. The little one's are supposedly a barred rock and a Rhode Island Red. Is it too soon to know if they are roo's or hens?
i believe i see white rocks, the chick is barred rock, the two golden colored i believe are buff orpingtons (check and see if their legs are white) and the two reddish chicks appear to be production rhode islands, or possibly new Hampshire reds.
Anyone willing to guess if they are pullets or roo's? And, how do I know if the white one is a leghorn or a White rock? Sorry, I should have mentioned, first two photos are the same chick, second 3 photos are of the same chickens again. And then the last one I think is a barred rock. The 2 little ones are about 3 weeks. Bigger 2 are about 7 weeks. Thank You!
white rocks have red ear lobes, broader breasts, and smaller combs. white leghorns have large combs or possibly rose combs (I think from a different strain), their earlobes will be white and the more white the better for breeding purposes.
I have trouble sexing from pictures, and sometimes rocks fool me, but I think the white and buff are both pullets.
