What do yall think about carolina coops basic plan

Did quick glance at their site...some are pretty small, cute but...meh.

Which model/design were you looking at duplicating?
I'm not really sure yet. I want room for 12 to 15 chickens so I'll plan around that. The design i like was the basic one, back doors with screen, clean out door on back. nesting box on side. I'll mainly have to adjust a bit for the heat in alabama. I will need alot of ventilation.

If you come up with any place to get the basic plans, I love to know where to find them. My son is very good with construction and he's promised to build me a coop. I've asked him to get as close to the Carolina as is possible, but he's definitely not looking forward to trying to replicate someone else's coop without their plans. I love their deep litter door and all of the ventilation options. I've found a place to purchase the HDPE by the sheet. I know Carolina uses 1/4" sheets and it takes a decent circular saw with a carbide blade to cut it well. They screw it down to the base. The black PVC coated 1/2" wire cloth can be purchased on Amazon in 4' x 100" rolls. That's about as far as I've gotten. Anyone have any additional information or built a similar coop?

That HDPE is kinda pricey. I suppose it would last forever, though.
Have you considered other siding options? Our coop and shed have DuraTemp siding---looks great and the siding has a fifty year warranty so we won't be around to see it crumble.

I am almost finished on this coop. it is 8' wide 6' deep with 4 nest boxes on the rear and cleanout doors on both sides which have removable screens so they can be opened for summer ventilation. The Cupola was a last minute addition as a replacement for ridge vents. It was built from scrap wood and an old bi-fold closet door I had running around. It is my first coop build so wish me luck, I will gladly share the original plans that I drew up to anyone that asks. When I get some time I will update them and post them to the site.

I'm actually looking to duplicate the American or Carolina, but I want the dimensions of the coop to be 8' wide x 4 deep with a 8' run added, then I want to make another in reverse and attach them similar to a duplex. Have side exterior doors on each anda midle panel to seperate the coops if necessary. To seperate new chcickens as they're added to the flock, pull out bully birds, etc. The total footprint would be 8' x 24' when combined overall. That's the dream anyway. We'll see if son sees it the same way...lol
