Seems like everyone is trying to dissuade from JG :-(
I bought 4 a couple months ago at 1 yo and plan on crossing with my French maran cockerel (if they take to him, they are rather resistant but he's the only one around so we shall see). I'm keeping them for eggs until 2 years old and then butchering for stock.
You know what I love about my jg is how tame they are. One went broody and I could pick her up, she got all ruffly but none of them have ever pecked me. I think a jg rooster would just be gorgeous.
Course I'm still experimenting, just starting out. I have some Ameracauna pullets also, my cockerel gets along way better with them so might not end up with any jg progeny after all.
