Please could you post photos too

Does this mean, I take a section in the run.. frame it out.. plant seeds.. of different varietys of veggies and then place over that hardware cloth.. so they cant get down to the bottom.. and what does that do.. they can eat only the top of the plant so the rest can keep growing.. is this the idea??

thanks everyone

Yup, that's the idea... we are going to do it in our new run... will be planting the seeds this weekend...

Though we are planning to plant a variety of grasses... mine will never let veggies grow enough to produce. They will rip the tops off as soon as possible.

Thanks you two

Looks like galeleo bumped up a post for me so we can all learn too

O.K. Here's mine. It's made from the same 1" X 2" 14 gauge galvanized wire that I used for my coop/run. I bent the wire to make a basket measuring 5' long X 2' wide X 2" tall and put it over grass sod. It works pretty well.

That's what I was wondering

If I plant lettuce seeds, cause man lettuce grows like nuts, I can only assume the wire over it..prevents them from dig gin in it and tearing it all up

I guess?

Lol

M Y husband finds out I do a garden for them and not him..he's going to be one mad man...lma

My hubby isn't thrilled with my idea of a garden for them either, (as I can't grow anything for us)... I want to put stuff in that they can't get their little feet in and destroy... I have bantams and then can get in the smallest places. I'm going to put my boxoes together this weekend... and put them in the upstairs back bedroom (so they have to be manageable...) and start the growing process. Still too cold for outside growning. Figure by the time the new run is complete, will have a couple nice gardens ready for them...
