What do you do in this situation?

My neigbors on one side are driving me crazy! The let their kids ride their four-wheeler on our land, and they let their young rottwieler chase our animals! I heard something and went outside and it was after the baby ducks underneath the porch I had let out for awhile. Then it got after my young chickens, then my adults. Once I got them all put up, it went after the adult ducks who were coming home from a pond two houses over! The young boy says the dog does it all the time and their dad knows and lets it out anyways. They didn't stay there at all in the winter, and they are only there half the time in the summer. Our chickens go in the part of their yard cloesest to ours, but they have never said anything about it.

They get a new puppy every summer, and by fall they give it away. With one of them it only got food and water when I took the food and water over there and gave it to him. They gave him no shelter, and no attention. We reported it, but there was nothing that could be done apperantly, at least that's what they said.

So this dog comes over and attacks our animals all the time and they do nothing about it? What so we do, because after all our chickens do go in the one part of their yard not filled with trash!? We had up no tresspassing signs up, but they got torn down in the wind and ice storm at the end of the winter.

I called my mom and she said to go talk to the dad, but I had an outpatient procedure yesterday and I'm just a teenager coming down off a major dose of Demerol. I can barely walk without shaking, let alone be threatening!

Why isn't the parent in your household willing to go talk to them?

We have like 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 acres of land with a lot of woods. Fence isn't an option.

My mom works second shift, and they are usually only home when she's at work.

Its sad because people who have rotties who let them act like that give the rest of the rottie owners a bad name not to mention makes the breed look bad. First things first before you start anything make sure you keep your animals on your property. That way if they say "your chickens are in our yard" you're covered. Next there needs to be a talk with the dad or at least a very well thought out letter. If the dog is friendly to people then leash it and call them to pick it up. If it happens a second time call animal control. If you have a digital camera or video camera take some proof of it chasing your animals so you have proof. Have animal control escort the animal either back or to a shelter.

I'm sorry that your neighbors are so horrible to your animals and to their own.

Is the dog aggressive to you? They could get into trouble for that, right? And if it isn't, simple. Put dog in car. Drive to humane society. Drive home. Even if they replace the dog once every year, that's one car drive per year. Not much to protect your animals.

The kids on 4 wheelers are more of a problem. Make your dad talk to their dad. He shouldn't expect you to! My dad would have run after them with a shot-gun. (Yeah, it might have landed him in jail, but it would get the point across.)

Final solution, electric fence, which someone already said. Cheap, and effective for kids as well as dogs!!

Put up the no trespassing signs again asap!

This all comes down to confining animals. I would say, ethically, that you are in a hard place to complain from. Your chickens are loose, ranging on other people's property, your ducks are two houses away, and you have a loose dog, not belonging to you, harassing your pets. Fence your animals. If the dog continues to be a problem after you've done your share, then fix the problem.

Yes, your neighbors are bad pet owners. They should not be replacing a dog annually. However, from my point of view, you need to get your house in order before you go after someone else. Harsh, but true.

since you cant fence he needs to find a way to contain the dog. you can call your local police or animal control and make a complaint.

I would agree with what Henny Penny said. Either bring the dog to the AC or call the police and report a suspicious looking dog on your property. They don't have to know that you know who's it is. IMO, if it's on my property, its suspicious.

They'll get tired of having to pay the fee to get their dog back, or better yet, they won't get the dog back and it'll find a better home. Perhaps you could also find out their phone number and have your mom call from a break during work. Either that, or you two could write a friendly note and leave it in the mailbox. Just be careful how its worded and best to make it friendly at first. Then if they don't do something about their dog, you can take other action. I would be careful about allowing your birds to go on their property though, at least while they are there. That's a good thing for them to complain about when you bring up their dog! It sounds silly, but that's just how people are.
