I'm going on an airplane to Long Island, New York tommarow, (HELLO to all New York BYC people!) and I ALWAYS get BORED! What do you people do to pass the time? It takes 6+ hours to get there, and I can never sleep!

I take a few books, a crossword puzzle or Sudoku book, my ipod, some snacks and one of those neck pillows. I carry my laptop, but rarely get it out on the plane.

Last time I flew American Airlines and the planes were old, not even a movie screen. The time before that, I flew Delta and they had little screens in the back of the headrest in front of you and you could watch regualar TV channels, movies, track the plane's progress over the country and play trivia games against the other passengers. Those were cool!

I bring books, my Nintendo DS, music to listen to, and paper to doodle on usually. On shorter flights I'm just fine, the time passes pretty quickly, but really long flights are another story. I did so many things trying to pass the time on my flight to Japan (eleven or so hours), but even with the books, the DS, the music, plenty of sleeping, and in-flight meals, it STILL felt like an eternity! I'd do something for two hours and then go "Oh, hmmm, only nine hours to go now!"

Not that I'm complaining, my trip was truly amazing.

I have brought books, potable dvd player and mp3 player before. Last time I flew it was to San Francisco and they had those cool little screens where you could watch tv. The new channel had a story of a plane crash, so I was glad to have something else to keep me busy, lol.

To the OP... all i do is read and eat and sleep.

Pray?

Yawn/Chew Gum to ease ear pain?

Kiss bum goodbye while pretending to tie shoes?

Thank the powers that be that I wasn't the 'random' person who got strip searched?

Honestly, I can't do much that requires visual focus while moving, I get seasick.
Think reading while in a car... multiplied.
I listen to music... of course, the last time I flew that was one a WALKman... so there ya go.
