What do you do to make watering easier?

That is what my mother had done for her yard. She had the faucets attached to white posts . . . I'm going to add it to my list of home improvement projects I want to accomplish. For now intermittent hose sections with quick connections works fairly well.

I think we'd rent a trencher for a few hours!!

You can buy water dishes, troughs and stocktank floats that can all have a hose attached, to refill automatically. We've used a dog dish, hog waterer and the Rubermaid stock tanks with a float, including the low to the ground 50 gallon one. If you get something like that, at least it would take the pressure off you until the weather gets bad.

There are also systems for poultry that have little cups or you can use the nipples. The nipples can even be bought separately and added to any bucket or other container. That keeps the water clean. Some people fill an elevated tank to supply water instead of using a hose, too. Maybe you can set up a nipple drinker for just drinking, that has a drop in heater in the tank, in addition to the big container that the ducks will dirty up. I've only heard of those indoors, though, so I'm not sure if they'll stay unfrozen outside of a coop.

When I was working full time, most of the chores got done at night. Some feeding got done in the morning and a quick check, but most of the work had to wait until the evening. Maybe they will just have to go to bed with full clean water, that will be waiting for them when they wake up.
