What do you do with a BB turkey once it's limping?

I volunteer at an animal shelter which just took in a big BBBronze tom. He's limping pretty badly, and I know their legs sometimes give out when they get to be a certain size. Is there anything to be done?

Crush 81mg Aspirin, daub up powder with split open grapes and let the turk scarf it down (2.5mg per lb. is the standard dose - however, our 8 lb. roo was getting 10mg per lb. TID to good effect - kept him moving for an additional three years).

Soft, dry bedding (when legs start to go, BB's spend lots of time hunkered down and will often develop breast blisters that become infected in less than "clean" environments). Weigh feed before offering to turk, then weigh how much remains at end of day. Cut the feed amount down to one half of the wt. missing from feeder.

This is all pretty much "finger in a dike"/hail mary palliative treatment. Good luck on the life extension program.

Been there, done that :(
