What do you do with a roo (when you're not allowed to have one)?

If you think you have roosters, take photos and post them here. You’ll need close up of the combs and pretty clear full body shots.

If it’s a put-your-whole situation in jeopardy, it’s better to be safe than sorry and start now even if you give away a hen.

I’ve never had a problem finding homes quickly on Craigslist, and you have desirable breeds. My chicks are always really well handled and the roosters are super docile at that point, and I always find someone within a couple days.

I typically say something like $20.00 or free to a good home. The way I see it... No one is gonna buy it for meat for 20 bucks. If someone takes the time to try and fool you that they’re a good home to get it for free and wants it for meat, they probably needed it.

Oh I definitely won't try to keep it if it's a roo - no matter how attached I may be (already!) doing so would put my whole flock at risk and it's just not worth it! I feel like the moment I hear a crow and figure out who it was, I literally need to take off of work and remove that chicken that same day.

Get a no crow collar until you can find a home for him or them. Can't even hear my guys, the girls are louder. You have to remember if there are no boys a dominant hen will crow.

I'm about 2 hours drive west of DC area, give or take and I had instant success posting 2 roos on Craigs List. They were picked up within 48 hours of posting. Take good pictures to show them off. There's definitely interest in this area for quality roosters. I frequently see people looking for free poultry for farms.

My chicks in question: first one is 7 weeks old Light Brahma
