I'm not sure? There is so many conflicting reports and i think each vaccine might be developed differently? That's why i made sure to put that "i heard" and "if that is true".... It was just a theory we were tossing around for why there is a shortage for hatcheries this year. The other idea we had was that this generation at the hatcheries are finally so inbred they just can't lay like they used to.
But either way i'll still look into hatching my own next year so i don't have to deal with hatcheries, and if i need to add in new blood i'll look for local breeders. :)
Evidently, at least in my area, with the lock downs and all, plus shortage of eggs (among other things) at limes in the stores, more people are deciding to raise a few chicks in their backyards, so more people are ordering from hatcheries (plus, some people who usually order ordered more due to egg/food shortages this past year...more self-reliant)

I was so excited (EGG-cited) my first few eggs after our chickens laid... had no idea an incubator was my present for Christmas. After my first few hatches I wish it was 10x's bigger and had a few more just to hatch stuff. Lol

I think I'd like to also get into conservation hatches, helping restore native birds, just so I could keep the incubator running!!!

That is a cool idea...thanks for mentioning it! Wonder if there is a place I could look locally that needs/allows that?
