what do you do with cockerel chicks in a sexed run?

With cockerels what you need is a plan B, and Plan B needs to be at hand and ready to go. He probably will be fine with the others until 10-16 week age. You will know when he starts causing problems.

Separation is the best for the flock, for your heart if you are not going to keep him, start looking now for someone to take him, if you do not think you can cull him.

Depending on the percentage of cockerels you end up with (usually more than 10 percent if you have more than 10 pullets ordered), you can get a refund from the hatchery. You have to contact them and ask though and will probably have to send pictures too

I have one that's showing all signs of being a cockerel. What to do?
What do you want to do with him once you know for sure? Do you want to keep him or get rid of him?

If you want to keep him how many chickens do you have and what age and sex are they. What do your facilities look like. How big in feet is your coop? Your run? We can discuss details once we know what you are working with.

If you want to get rid of him you can find your state thread in the "Where am I? Where are you" section and chat with your neighbors or post an ad in the "Buy - Sell - Trade" section of this forum. You can post an ad on Craigslist or maybe put an ad on the bulletin board at the feed store.
