What do you do with the dust from crumbles?

I've started scooping out the crumbles with a sifter so I can shake out the dust from the crumbles and only put the crumbles into their feeder. And now I have a bag of the dust left.

I'm curious if anyone has suggestions on a use for this?

I know I can put some in the meal worm farm and boost their calcium content. Any other suggestions? Do you mix some with yogurt and feed it as a treat to your girls? Just trying not to waste anything around here these days.

I mix mine with water to make a mash for young pullets, OR use it with other ingredients to make bird bread! If you bake little bread loaves with treats like raisins or banana thrown in, it's really nutritious and you can keep the extra loaves in the freezer to avoid waste!

Bird bread is a great idea. What else do you mix with yours? Just water and some fruit? Or do you add flour and a levining agent to make it rise?

Yep, I was gonna say mix it with water. They all love it.

Thats a lot better idea than what I do. A recipie would be nice for that. What I usually do is dump it out away from the coop to draw the mice away. Winter time there are always holes in the floor (ground) from them burrying in. I always take a shovel chop up the ground and then pack it back down. Before we got the cat I used to shove a mouse poison bar in the holes and cover it with a brick. It worked great. Better than the cat.

My girls love it, here's my recipe. I don't take the time to measure everything out to an exact amount, though.

1 egg (with shells)
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 c flour
3/4 cup chicken crumbles or oatmeal or wheat germ, etc
1-3 bananas or mashed squash/zucchini
1/3 cup olive oil OR apple sauce

optional: raisins, flax seed, nuts, spinach, meal worms

etc...

375 for 45min to an hour

You can bake it in little loaves or a cup cake pan! Then throw the spares in the freezer.

All I really did was take a banana bread recipe and substitute out unhealthy stuff like butter...
