What do you do with your dead (chickens, ducks, quail, etc...)

I also have been known to taxidermy excess roos...they turn out beautiful and sell really well!

Rendering plants are often operated in conjuction with Slaughter houses... or poultry processing houses. They process for meat bone and fat.... The bones go on to make geletin.... And eventually bone meal... The meat goes into dog food... and fat goes on to soap or candle making

There are different types of plants... and processing... some produce a human edible product some...

And there are EPA FDA...standards for each.

No the tails usually contract at the time of death..I have a peacock in the freezer right now and I can't imagine how much space he'd take up if the tail was all fanned out!

Good to know, thanks! Can I ask what you'll do with the one in the freezer without sounding too nosey? Is that how you keep it fresh tell you can stuff it? Is it waiting for necropsy? Can you eat Peafowl?

I assume that a peacock that's not going to be taxidermized would have its feathers removed to keep or sell.

Someone else brought me a peacock to necropsy and I removed his tail feathers and gave them to someone to use in their art class at church.

Can you eat Peafowl?

You sure can eat them. I had a crippled one two years ago and sold him for $25 as food.

Edited to add:
He called later and wanted more, but I did not want to sell perfectly good peafowl knowing they would be eaten.

Composting is an easy and well accepted method and does not contribute to water runoff issues if done properly.

We have a cemetery so to speak. Along a fence line. Cats/dog (pets) /goats/piglets/poultry (livestock) /coons/opossums (predators).
Countless at this point.
Some sick or injured birds were culled.
Some croaked on their own recognizance.
