What do you feed a brooding hen ???????

My free-range flock is feed crack corn as a treat 2 or 4 times a week so they will come when I call them. When I have baby chicks I feed one bag of 20% or 28% protein starter feed until it is used up. When a hen goes brooding in the pass I throw some crack corn near her nest. However, I am beginning to think that I should have some more balance feed available for her. I am going to start feeding her the starter feed.

What are your thoughts on this subject??????

All your birds should be on a balanced feed.
A broody hen needs to get up off her nest from time to time so that she does not over heat the eggs (don't put feed and water where she can get to it wile in the nest) and she should be getting the same feed that you would feed her and her chicks.

The starter / grower feed will be better for her. And a 18 to 20% starter is good for the chicks.
