What do you feed your breeders?

Once my birds get to about 8 weeks old, I switch them from purina game chow starter grower to layena. What I've noticed is that the 12+ oz 8 week old hens become 10+ oz 12 week old birds. What do others feed mature birds. I'm thinking about keeping them on the higher protein starter.

We feed our breeding Quail and Turkeys Purina Game Bird Layeena. They do well on that.

I feed my adult and started chickens a mix of 28% Game Bird Starter (75% of ration), Crimped Oats (20% of ration) and Black Oil Sunflower Seeds (5% or ration). All of my chicks start on pure Game Bird Starter (unmedicated). When my chickens get to 3 weeks old, I mix 2/3 Game bird Starter with 1/2 of the above mix. That's what I also am feeding my quail. It's basically Game Bird Starter with a sprinkling of crimped oats and BOSS. I also sprinkle all purpose sand on the feed before I scoop it into the buckets to go feed, about 1-2 times a week. It serves as grit for the quail and the chicks. So far, this seems to work for us. The quail are positively fat. This is their 3 day to lay and I got 10 eggs from 16 hens. They are 6 weeks and 1 day old

You Name It They Do Better On The Startrena... These Are My Results... Others May Vary.
