I LOVE my Silkie/Cochin mixes..love love love!!

I got 2 from a breeder/show person last year, Gorgeous! And suprise! I just got a beautiful rooster today, he looks to be a splash with some buff on his shoulders. He's amazing and they will make amazing babies, i just know it!!

His hens are Solid Black & Blue.

SO happy to show him off, lol

The threads relating to this cross have encouraged my interest in developing a stable breed out of this if there is enough interest. The four I have as well as many of the others I've seen have come out blue/black though the other colors are beautiful too. I'm wondering if the light black color is a common recessive gene in the silkies as it seems to be independent of the color of the cochin. Mine are still young so I'm impatiently waiting to see what the adult plumage is like. I'm cautiously calling the two I have that are getting the gold hackles roos and the other two hens. I could use the two pairs for the F1 and see what the offspring looks like but I would definitely need to talk someone into swapping some birds for diversity if I were to try a breeding program with them. Any thoughts?

I've got quite a few babies this year from my Splash Sizzle Roo (pictured above) and they're SO adorable! Some are mixed with my regular cochin hen so some crests might not be that great but i plan to pick them out later on.. the ones from him & my Black/Blue Sizzle girls hatched with HUGE crests... just too cute
