What do you grow to feed the chickens??

One of the last 3 pumpkins was getting soft-- a couple days ago kids used it for bashing practise, swinging it tossing it and bashing it. Few chickens were interested! WTH??

Left in small peices orange guts strewn across the snow, the hens are taking a little inerest in the scraps.

Next time-- cooking the next pumpkin.

Looked at a variety of seeds today--

amaranthe
buckwheat
sorghum
millet

too overwhelmed to make a choice-- more research needed . . . .

ANyone tried these???????

Depending on the variety, about 18" My plan is to just sow some bird seed, and harvest what ever comes up. The chooks won't care what cultivar it is.

No , the chooks won't care what cultivar it is-- only needs to be edible. lol

I have 3 chicks that are testing out strawberries--looks like another good plant for the chooks.

In the spring candle catalog the strawberries were pictured in a hanging bag--another idea to add dimension to the garden and more food for the chooks.

What are you planting this year for the chickens?

As weird as it is MY CHICKEN LOVES TO EAT CHICKEN
