What do you grow to feed the chickens??

This was one website with a word of caution, and native substitutes. THis is a hardy plant (shrub , sm tree)that easily overruns some environments. SO I wanted to list this for completeness.

Anther perspective-- note the seeds are edible and the flowers. SUggests seeds should be cooked. Has some medicinal properties, which I did not verify from another source.

Can someone help me out here?

I'm looking in to grow stuff to feed my chickens this year to kinda help cut down the feed costs. I live in Eastern Idaho and am having a hard time figuring out what zone I'm in, can anyone help me?
Does anyone know of anything easy that will grow over here? (just in case I'm missing something)

Hi honey bee!! You can find your zone by using a search engine.

planting zone for_________ Put in your zip. GIven the terrain of your state, which side of the hill you are on or what valley will play a role. You have a state extension service too will is very helpful. Your growing conditions are very different than mine.
