I saw a picture on here of a sex link that was titled as white/gold coloring. It was almost all white with a gold slight red color over the front half of the chicken. Absolutely gorgeous!

I was wondering what two chickens mixed to make this and any info on this if anyone knows. Thanks a lot.

That sounds like a male buff orpington cross with a white leghorn hen or a barred rock hen ( some other black hen). The buff orpington would have to carry dominant white if the cross was with a barred rock or some other black bird. The hen could also be a white rock that was silver, birchen or extended black and carried dominant white. For some reason buff orpington when crossed with black birds produce offspring with a zonal gradient of buff on the head and buff that turns to black toward the tail end of the bird. The gradient can vary from some buff on the head to half of the bird being buff and the rest being black. With the addition of the dominant white the black is turned to white.

The chicks are usually white with buff on their heads or face. As the females get older they will show more buff on their bodies.

This phenomenon is of interest to me but I do not have the facilities to find out why ( genetically) buff orpington cause the zonal pigmentation. Normally if you cross a male red bird with a black bird you will get females that have a black sex linked look or be a pseudobirchen bird (false birchen).

Thank you so much. I was really confused. Do you know how to go about getting one? I've only seen black and red sex links available and though this kind may fall under one of these categories how are you to ensure this is the kind you will get?

You would have to do the crossing yourself to consistently produce the bird. You may occasionally get the bird in a red sex linked cross; like a golden comet. To the best of my knowledge, you can not just order the bird.
