what do you like to see

@IamRainey - you are absolutely correct about space. Many of your chicken runs are bigger than my entire property and that is a very reasonable size compared to many in the UK (just under ½ acre). Materials also seem to be much more expensive here which might explain smaller coops and runs and possibly why things like the eglu's are fairly popular.

but we build bigger and stronger.

Yes, probably true. However, in the US we have more predators and bigger predators and often multiple predators in any one area. For example, I've never seen anyone in the UK need to fortify against bears - one of the largest/strongest predators some in the US deal with! They seem to deal mostly with foxes as the biggest, most common threat. Not sure they have raccoons either. Then it seems to be smaller animals like rodents or maybe minx or similar.

Sure, but I'm not advising that anyone build to a standard that's not appropriate to their area. My coop and run are as large as I could make them and a Fort Knox in the bargain. I deal with raccoons, coyotes, hawks and skunks and I'm prepared for any of them.

My point was the advice that comes from those of us with things like space, challenges, larger flocks and access to strong building materials might not meet the market where conditions and expectations are very different.

We don’t have racoons in the UK, pretty sure we don’t have bears either.
