I saw some weird looking poops that I was certain were cecal earlier in my brooder with 3 day old orpingtons. This poop is giving me pause. When zoomed in it doesn’t look right.. is that worms? intestinal shedding? Something else that would warrant medicating their water?
They have clean medicated chick feed, and water available in horizontal and vertical nipple drinkers (so it is clean). Water has electrolytes and vitamins and probiotics added. (Flock Fixer, Strong Animals brand, like sav-a-chick but I like it better). They also have Strong Animals first peep sprinkled on feed (but that’s really gone already and I haven’t been replenishing it, just a sprinkle here and there).
I did lose one around 24 hrs ish, it may have been mushy chick disease? Syringe fed it yolk and electrolyte/probiotics water, but it continued to be listless then passed. I don’t think this is related because all chicks are acting normal and the chick passed too early for it to be coccidiosis (not enough time passed for colonization). I don’t think the chick ever even pooped before passing since it didn’t eat or drink so the droppings pictured are certainly from healthy chicks (I already cleaned brooder and replacing bedding after the first one passed just to be safe).
