I have an 8 yr. old Gold Laced Wyandotte who had entered Hen-a-Pause a couple of years ago. She ended up loosing her last room mate so I bought her two Rhode Island sisters for company and she started laying again 3-4 days a week. She went from being a grumpy chicken to wanting to be petted and happy.
Recently she started sitting on her nest for very long stretches of time.
First I thought she was egg bound so I soaked her in a hot Epsom water bath but she had already laid the egg. The behavior that made me think she was bound because she was sitting on the next for 8+ hours at a time then when I opened the coup door she made a growling noise and stood up all her feathers.
She got up and did normal hang out in the run later in the day but she is back on the nest and growling again.
Has anyone got any Ideas ? Will call the vet tomorrow if she is still doing it tomorrow when he opens if no one can give me any ideas.
Thanks
