Has anyone ordered Delawares from Sandhill? If so what was your opinion of the quality? I'm needing a good Delaware Roo to promote my breed. Hatched 300+ eggs this year but didn't get one rooster worth keeping. Did get some promising females body wise at least. Some of these have red bleeding through which makes me think I've got a little breed mixing somewhere in the past. Oh well, guess I will be hatching 300 more next year. Anyway, I would appreciate any advice about where to get a good "breeding" roo.

Anyone like any of the other "hatcheries"? I know before you say it, hatcheries don't make show quality chickens but no rooster equals no chicks!

Where are you located? There must be somebody who has a roo for sale close enough for you to drive or a breeder that would sell one of high enough quality that could ship it...hatching 300 seems like you need to find better breeding stock though finding good chunky ones isn't that easy....

Listen, I felt lucky I found the ones I did. I'm in the Kansas City area. If anyone knows of are are breeding this breed in or around me, let me know. I do need a good rooster. I have done a lot of reading and from what I've read it take a LOT of chicks to find ones worth keeping. Especially when it comes to the Delawares because they have so many color variations, size differences etc.

I don't mind hatching that many and they really are easy to sell. Just expensive to feed!
