What do you think of this coop?

You have to ask yourself, what's the point of having a coop in the first place? Shelter from rain, number one, shelter from cold/drafts, number two, and predator protection, number three.

This coop would provide minimal protection from rain, but so would a tarp or a corrugated metal or plastic panel (for a lot cheaper than $175). I'm somewhat doubtful about how much protection this coop would provide from cold or drafts, simply because of its size, flimsy construction, and the holes in it right about where it looks like the chickens are supposed to be roosting. And as far as the final reason for having a coop (protection from predators), I'm afraid this coop would work more like a chicken take out box for predators.

If you buy this you'll need to give us a review. Frankly, I think it might be a step up from using a cardboard box but that's about it. I saw some other pics of this another website and I remember that most of the parts were so thin you could see through them.

On another check the coop out post it was listed you need 4 sq. ft./bird. This will hold two standard only based on that information. I tend to agree it does look flimsy when you look at it closely. You could build it with wood for that price in my opinion.

just be careful.. it is plastic and slippery. make sure they have something else to walk on.. wood chips so they can get a grip....even the ramp looks slick..and since it is light weight i would be afraid of the wind knocking it over.. you might anchor it?

Thanks everyone..I've decided not to go with this coop, I agree and think I need something a bit more substantial. I will have to come up with some other light weight idea's. Thanks for all the opinions & thought's.
