What do you think that I should do?

When and if the chicks hatch, I am only allowed to keep the baby girls. Mum thinks that if I get any baby boys, I should cull them on the spot.

But what should I do? They are Australorps, red stars, rhode island reds and a few more, but they look to be all table birds.

Should I wait until he is a cockerel and then make him into dinner?

This is only if they do hatch because I really don't know if they are alive yet...

another 7 days and I can candle them!

Thank you,
kizza

I would be hesitant to cull at hatching because it's hard to sex chicks, even when you're a professional. You could end up culling a potential female. I'd keep the males for eating, selling or give away later on when you're sure about them.

You are going to have to grow them out a few weeks to be able to tell gender for sure. Not all breeds can be feather sexed or color sexed, and vent sexing is best left to the experts.

I'm in the same situation - I have 19 two week old babies in the brooder and am going to have to part with most if not all of the boys. I'm beginning to see differences already, so by 6 weeks hopefully I'll know for sure and can send my boys to new homes and keep my girls.

Good luck

woohoo thanks all!
Yes, of course ill wait a couple of weeks!!
I just thought i should ask about culling!!
Lol! I cant give them away because noone will take them! there are lots of different roos for give away here!
