Hi Gypsy. I agree that it might have been a humidity problem. See my post on your other thread about my horrific results of opening another egg. Hope your chicks are doing ok.

Tip for the future: When candling late eggs, tap the shell quite hard with your fingernail while looking at them. If the chick is alive in there, you will usually see some movement. It can be hard to detect and you need to be looking at exactly the right angle to see the chick wiggling and bulging into the air cell, but once you do see it, you know to stick it back in the bator and wait a bit more.

Then again, according to what most people say on the forum, by taking it out of the bator for a look you will most likely cause the membrane to become dried out and screw up its chances of hatching anyway. Sigh. It's so difficult to know what to do...
