I want to butcher some birds next year. I have an EE roo hens are RIR, plymoth barred, austrolops. leghorn and some sexlinks. I want a decent size and tender birds. Or should I get a couple dark cornish pullets and cross those?
What whould be the best cross for chicks to butcher?
How many weeks? I am thinking like 12-16

I'd say 16 weeks at the very earliest. Hoping someone else with some experience will chime in for ya. Seems like I've read others buthering around 18-20 weeks for a regular dual purpose roo. My two EE roos took quite a long time to fill out - not so sure they would be an ideal bird to cross for meat. Seems like I've read others on here mention Buff Orpingtons, Delawares, Barred Rocks, etc. Good luck!!
