So I am a scared-e cat about everything, I get nervous about most thinks, and well I am kind of scared to be in my own house right now.
We live pretty far back in the sticks, animals and junk, but we have neighbors, some are our best friends, but all nice and we trust them. Recently our 9 month old boxer has been freaking out at night. When I leave to shop or etc. Sam goes out into the fenced yard cause he likes to eat the sofas. Well, I can't really handle the dog, he is hyper like no other so he stays out until Kevin gets home. Well, he has been barking at the woods a lot. I know we live out in the woods and of course we have over loads of deer and coyotes. But other things too. Kevin and I were watching a movie in our room, it was hot in the house so we had the window cracked. Well, Kevin was all wrapped up in the movie and I noticed Sam was barking like no other, I was always told it was bogger barking as if he was scared of something. Then, he stopped. Then in the silent, I hear someone whistling, then Sam starts again barking. Then stops again and then the whistle, OMG someone is in our back yard! So I tell Kevin in a quiet voice to listen, Ok I'm not crazy, he heard it too! It was like a come here whistle! Like the kind I would whistle to him to come here. So Kevin slowly gets up and heads out with a big flashlight and spots all the yard and woods, nothing that we could see. Of course we bring Sam in. Now, since Shanna, my sister in law is staying with us, someone is always home, but I am so freaked out. I mean, it's not a one time thing, it has been an every night thing. Last night, he kept running in and out of the screened patio barking like he was scared $&*!-less of something. He was honest to god scared. Then tonight, He kept barking and growling at one side of the fence near the woods, until he did the scared thing. I don't know if it's coyotes, I know dogs get very scared around them, or maybe bobcats or maybe wild boar or bear, but none can whistle! It has be so scared, but then again I am a worrier that is scared of everything.
Any ideas, cops???
Now, let me state I know we have lots of brave Coyotes! Shanna and I were feeding rabbits late one night not to long ago and I know there was at least one watching us. I could hear it. I grew up in a coon hunting family and my dad took me all the time, even if I was scared of the dark. And I know what it is like to be watch by coyotes. The soft foot steps that are always around you, but always out of sight. Then really not knowing what is watching you but you keep as calm as you can until a passing train goes by with whistle blowing and the whole woods lights up with howls, oh you don't ever forget that feeling.
EDIT: Forgot to add the neighbor to the left of us actually told Shanna that his two dogs, one out and one in, have been freaking out as well at night. They did tonight as well when Sam was barking. Shanna and me were actually out on the porch doing each others nails when it all started around dusk.
