These 2 are barnyard mutts my son brought home from school. They are approx. 8 weeks old. I'm guessing Dip is a cockerel and Chip I'm hoping is a hen. What do you think? Also, any ideas on what they may be mixed with? Thanks!!

Looks like maybe crosses between RIR or production Red and Silkie? I've read that first generation silkie/RIR crosses have normal feathering, but any future generations crossed with silkie will have silkie feathering. Agree on sex - Dip appears to be a cockerel and chip, a hen.

gender i agree on as for breeds thats ify there must be silkie some weres in the background but its not a first time cross at would take at least 3-4 if not more out crosses to get all those silkie traits out (beard, crest, 5 toes, and black skin)
