What do you use for an incubator and egg turner?

Deerman, what do you change??

If on the closed in back porch it will get a little more humidity then in the house. Porch is only 400 sf but well insulated and predomnently shaded. 2 sides of the room are all thermal windows. We have a small window air conditioner in the wall on one side. Figured I'd keep it set 75 to 80 degrees. We also have a water softener in the room that is pretty noisy when it runs maybe once every few weeks. I often wonder if sound doesn't affect the eggs, LOL!!!! I have the Hova Bator set up out there now but had them in our extra bathroom last year. Thanks Deerman.

i lay egg on their side , use auto turner also hand turn 2 times a day

What do you use to lay the eggs on their side? GQF said the trays are made for them to go end up.......none made for laying on the sides. Don't you loose a lot of heat and humidity opening the unit to turn them twice a day? Thanks.

GQF makes racks for the cabinet incubators. You normally have to purchase them separately. They just slide in. They allow you to lay them on their sides.

The cabinet incubators get back up to temp very quickly. Opening them a couple of times a day will not cause any problems.

I see now that where I bought the incubator isn't offering the racks that eggs can lay down but I see GQF has them. I'll call www.incubators.org this morning. I'd told him I wanted to lay the eggs on their side but he acted like nothing existed to do so. Hopefully he can get the right ones or I'll purchase them elsewhere. I went with this company because friend had just priced them out and bought one herself. Said customer service was excellent and it's the only place she could actually talk to someone and they were polite on the phone.

UPDATE: Just called, they do have the larger lay egg on side trays so changed order and will be getting them. Thanks so much for calling this to my attention.

go to UPA site under breeders click state IN Craig Hopkins his site he show how with the large egg trays.

If you are using a hova bator you need goose racks. If you don't want to spend the money on them you can convert your quail or chicken racks into them by zip tying a piece of plastic mesh to the racks like I did in the pictures below. I use these and hatch many a baby peachick in them. I just had one hatch today. You can get the mesh at any Walmart or craft store. Hope this helps and good luck!

OK, looked at the pictures on Craig Hopkins website. There is an added tray of water in the GQF incubator in the pictures. Do you folks use more water to create humidity?

Thanks Yoda for the pictures. Smart the way you've created your own baskets to lay the eggs on their side. Tell me about the water in glasses? Do you also have water in the center reservoir in the bottom of the bator or are you using the glasses of water instead? I couldn't figure out how in the world you made room for them but finally realized you'd removed a row of the egg trays. Or I think that's what you've done. I just started up another of my hova bators...hens aren't choosing to set on their eggs in the Green Pen. My GQF cabinet was supposed to be shipped today but haven't received confirmation. Sure hope I'm not on a back order situation. Thanks everyone for your help. This is a fun hobby for me......I love these gorgeous birds.
