I put my nesting boxes in when my girls were young - they slept in them and pooped all over in them. Needless to say, I removed those.
I put in new nesting boxes just the other day. The girls are now 17 weeks old. They are about 10 inches off the floor. The girls are used to the boxes already.
My lowest roost is about 10 inches higher than the boxes. All the roosts are on the opposite wall from the boxes.
