What do you wish you had known before you got your chickens

I almost did TSC for our chicks but resisted. Glad I did. Still looking for one or two more very young pullets (olive egger or jubilee or wellsummer or copper maran or swedish flower) for my very small flock. I don't want chicken math to overtake and then have to make hard decisions as to who stays and who goes. Mine would not be happy about that. They would also suspiciously ask if this is so and so that we are eating the next time we ate chicken!

Do not feel sorry for a sick bird in your flock go ahead and cull it (mareks)
And not chickens but don't feed your turkey a piece of bread a day at your back door...

Was thinking on this all day....but now I know that my "bird" dog is more scared of my flock than he is interested wish I'd known that before we dug 500ft worth of trenches for his underground fence......yep...just took one good peck and he doesn't want a thing to do with them...but in all fairness my kitten beats him up a lot!
