What do you wish you'd have known when you started?

I wish I had known how to convince my partner sooner to get chickens. They are so much fun and everyone loves them.

i wish i would have started free rangin' earlier - i spent a summer buying their food.. now our motto is - get out there and free range seein' as its FREE!

bagged food at nite, of course.

i wish i would have really gone for it instead of nillynallying around.

i wish i would have known that the funniest sound in the world is the pitterpatter of 50-something little feet as they are cashing me down the path thinking they were getting snacks (and yes the most likely will).

i wish i would have known how attached you get - even for the 'un-named' ones that are destined for the soup pot.

I wish I had known how messy they would be in my bathroom and how much space they would take up as they grew into bigger and bigger brooders.

Sweeping up spilt shavings 10x a day and cleaning the brooder every other day so my bathroom doesn't look like a horse stall:
Pain in my *SS!

Seeing those sweet little faces every time I needed to 'powder my nose': Priceless.
