What does <3 mean?

hold ALT then press the keypad button "3" (not the 3 on top of the "E" key) then release ALT, and the ♥ will pop up...

It still means greater or less than, it just LOOKS like a heart when you put those two together. A a parentheses and a colon are still the same punctuation even though we use them to make what Look like smiley faces : ) ( :

In math it means that x is less than 3. In text speak it's a heart.

Personally I prefer ♥.
