What does broodness mean?

My Langshan chicks and barred rocks are 16 weeks old now so can they start being bordy at this age and they all getting bigger

Broodiness means that hens will set on and incubate a clutch of eggs. Non laying birds do not go broody.

Broodiness is a hen sitting on eggs, trying to hatch them and become a mother. They stop laying while broody. Broodiness can last anywhere from a few days to a month. I have to disagree with Sourland; non-laying hens do go broody and still make excellent mothers. (They may not go broody as often though.)
