Randomly removing individuals from the population is called "thinning" or "harvesting". Selectively removing individuals from the population is called "culling"

Here is an example of easing the reality of the act. Thinning is an accepted and known practice. Harvesting? What are we picking animals off of trees like apples, no we're killing them.
