what does it mean when you hear tapping?

I know that when you hear peeping it means the chick has broken the air sack,but what does tapping mean, if anything? When you first hear tapping how long will it be until a pip?

it means they are trying to get out. And depending on the chick it could take a few minutes or a few hours

It could take a whole day or more even! It taps to make a hole in the shell, then starts zipping around the entire shell. The chick rests for several hours while hatching so it can be a very long process.
