One day when my dad went outside, he noticed one of our pullets that appears to be a leghorn but mini size, had two swollen eyes. They were completly shut. We easily opened them and puss and it looked like a drop of blood too but not sure. We put teremicyn in them and they opened right up. Well now when you go in to get her food and water dish she jumps toward you. I don't know if she is trying to peck me or she is happy she is getting her daily feeding. She has some kinda cough and breathes through her mouth.

Please help me...................

I don't wan't her to pass away.

Hi sweetie, I understand how you feel. The same thing happened to me, several times.

When you say that she is a leghorn but mini sized is this a breed thing or is she just undersized and should be larger? This makes a difference.

There are several things that could be wrong with her. I am hoping that someone with more experience than me will jump on here to help you.

In the mean time, post back and tell us how many days this has been going on, answer me about her size, is she sort of sleepy - not moving around a lot? Is she eating and drinking? Are her eyes still swollen? Does she have any crusty stuff around or in her nostrils?

Okay, that's enough for now.
Hang in there

I am wrong about the puss and blood. My dad said IF she had it, it would be bad. Her eyes were swollen shut, but they have since stayed open. They are just real watery.

We are not sure what kind of chicken she is. She appears to be a bantam that looks like a leghorn. I have no idea what she really is.

Okay that's good to hear that there is no blood or puss.

How old is she?

Is she eating and drinking? Does she feel like she is gaining weight and filling out? Or is she sort of thin and tiny?

Is her nose kind'a crusty?

How long has she been sick? Coughing?

Is her poo normal?

Let us know

Well they auctioned her and the cockerel as leghorns but the cockerel is so small and already cocoadodles. I thought they were Japanesse White Tails but they don't have the tail for it.

That is so cute that your cockerel is cockadoodle doing. That means he is growing up.

How is you little pullet today? Is she eating and drinking? How are her eyes?

I live in North Carolina too. I'm over near Goldsboro on the East side of the State. You are in the middle aren't you? Not too far from Statesville.
