What does NPIP mean????

I am interested in knowing what this means. I see alot of people have this listed along with a number. I have experience with the backyard flock so im not sure what it means.

National Poultry Improvement Plan

(I'm not completely sure about the last word being "Plan" so don't quote me.)

From what I've been told and know, it's an organization (or something) that aims to help cut down on poultry diseases. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You can read about it here but in short it is The National Poultry Improvement Plan and the NPIP test is a test for the pullorum disease in chickens..............
