The name "Pile" spelt "Pyle" in the USA applies mainly to Pyle Araucanas, Pyle Dutch bantams, Pyle Leghorns, Pyle Modern Game, Pyle Old English Game, and Pyle American Game.
The name "Pile" or "Pyle" is a derived from the heraldic term for Triangle or wedge shape that has one side along the top, narrowing down to a point near the bottom of a shield.
In poultry term, it is (nearly) a variation of the Black-Red/ Partridge pattern where all the Yellow, Orange, Red-Brown parts remain the same, but the Black parts are changed to White.
