What does sold as ‘assorted’ mean?

I’m looking for a few barred rocks and Rural King just got a bunch of assorted straight run chicks. Are these assorted pure breeds? Or are these assorted mixed breeds that are not pure? I feel like I’m seeing RIRs, barred rocks, lavender orphingtons, Easter Eggers and maybe black astralaups ? I’m tempted to select what look like the barred rock chicks out, but I’m worried they aren’t pure since it’s an assorted free for all...or they are pure breeds, but those aren’t barred rocks in there. How risky guys!?p

Probably an assortment of pure breeds. Be aware, the "Barred Rocks" with the most conspicuous spots on their heads are more likely to be males. If you're hoping for Barred Rock females, you probably want black ones with small headspots.

Call your feed store and ask them where they ordered the chicks from.
BEWARE that you will end up with males...a few or more...picking from a straight run group.

I think it means an assortment of different breeds to choose from. Straight run means you never know what gender you'll get.
