What does straight run really mean? Lol. Do I have a 50/50 chance? Or do you think the odds of hens are worse then that...?

From my understanding straight run means unsexed chicks. You could get 50/50 roos/hens or all hens or all roosters and anything in between.

Basically they are not sexed so you'll get both pullets and cockerels. Good thing my town doesnt allow roosters so all the feed stores sell pullets of course even with sexed pullets they only guarentee it 90% :p

With sex links, the accuracy is 100% because it's genetically impossible for the roos to not look different (or let's say 1 in a million chance). That is one of the benefits of the sex linked hybrids.

Once I bought 100 straight run sex links and they sent me 56 males and 44 females. They might have hatched that way or the workers might have swapped a few extra roos into my batch since it's so obvious the sex. Still, it was cheaper to by 100 SR than 50 pullets, so I got my money's worth.
