What does the perfect roost look like?

Well they were sleeping huddled on-top of my 2ft high pen enclosure that I use for bad chickens... I really wanted them off of that and in the coop since it was becoming a mess.... it's a 3' x 6' x 2' frame with wire on all sides and a piece of plywood for the top with a whole covered in wire for the hinged top.... I have three roos in there that are up for the freezer and they're making a mess....

I figure they will just roost on top of the nesting box structure.....

My roost are all 1x2 i had left over from a job, the chickens love them and they come from the store with very round edges .

Thanks for the clarification on the 2x4, though I did measure some we used that were 3/4 rather than 1/2. Guess that can vary a bit, however, the point is that you really dont have a full 2" surface if you place that side up.
