what does this mean?

I have five hens........one is about 7 months old and the others are three months.....

the older one has not strated to lay........recvently i noticed that the older one has the other ones underneath it......like it is keep them warm with its wings and so forth.....

also its wadlles have turned really red......does this mean it is gonna lay soon....it never use to do this........anyway interested to hear any ideas ont his

Sounds like she is being a momma hen but 3 month old babies are pretty big.
If she is getting redder in the face and comb she should lay soon. Does she squat for you when you try to touch her?
