What does this sound mean?

Thank you! Sadly, Snowflake is no longer with us. She was a super sweet Silky hen that was the first of three hens taken by a predator over a course of 4 weeks. We were devastated & learned the hard way that we can no longer free range our flock.

Oh no! I'm sorry! A hawk attacked mine while I was standing there, so we decided that they would only free range with us present...... with big sticks or tennis racquets... I'd love to send a hawk flying.

Me too!! Unfortunately, that's frowned upon (i.e. illegal ). We're fairly certain that's what got Snowflake. We plan on putting up some fake owls near the coop. A neighbor said he noticed a decrease in hawk activity when he put one near his coop and run.
You should have seen me running out there with a broom a couple of weeks after all this happened. Let's just say it's a good thing I don't have super close neighbors... they would have been talking!

I wouldn't wanna kill it, just send it flying the other direction....haha. I wonder if fake owls work. Of course, with this blizzard, they don't wanna go outside anyway.

Generally hawk deterrents don’t work. Fake owls, shiny objects and such. They are very smart and notice the owl never moves. Some people have luck moving the owl around a lot. Others well...
